I’m excited to share a bathroom remodel with you today that is a great example of how a little rearranging can get you the bathroom of your dreams.
Our guest blogger’s neighbor had to work within the existing footprint of her home to update the master bathroom. We get used to seeing ginormous master bathrooms in glossy magazines, but a 5 piece bath isn’t a reality for all of us

What a fun week! Thanks everyone for helping me celebrate the addition of my new little Gunner! I really am thrilled to have this new guy in my life and to embrace all things BOY! It has been a blast seeing all that I have to look forward to being a mom to a boy! As we wrap up this week long celebration I could not be happier to end the week with an AMAZING giveaway event! Thanks to so many gener
I predicted a few weeks ago that metallics would be the faux finish to replace chalkboard paint this year. The metal (or faux-metal) look is definitely gaining popularity, but chalkboard is still holding strong, so there might be a fight to the finish! It’s okay — you can cheer for both.
One big bonus for chalkboard paint is that it’s quite versatile and very easy to use. You can
Did I say we were leaving for Minnesota yesterday? I meant today!
Slight change in plans, back we’re all set to leave this morning now. Yippeeeeee!
PS- That’s the view of our Gray Lake paint (in the sunroom, on the left) and our Gray Owl paint (lightened by 50% in the kitchen, on the right) from our back door…which I’m walking out through as soon as I shut off this comput
There is so much to love about having a boy and when it comes to celebrating them and entertaining them the ideas are endless! It might be too soon for me to start planning Gunners 1st birthday but you better believe I’ve already started peeking around to see what all of you do to celebrate the boys in your lives! I’m so excited to share a few fun party and entertaining ideas from some
We’ve been working almost non-stop on our backyard. (well I guess we stop for rain the last few days or so) BUT -we are putting in a patio! I should re-phrase that we are digging one out one stinkin’ wheelbarrow full at a time! YUCKY!
The issue we are trying to decide on is a shade structure. I don’t want anything permanent that blocks daylight to my windows, since we are in a b
A friend and I were talking a few days ago. Both in disbelief that the kids only have a week of school left and then it will be summer break. Where has the past school year gone? Moms seems to have a love/hate relationship with summer. They are excited to have their children home more, [...]The post Tips For Surviving and Enjoying Summer Break with Kids appeared first on The Idea Ro

We’re headed to St. Louis today. That’s about the halfway point to where we’re going in Minnesota. I’m hoping our pets don’t give our house-sitters too much trouble while we’re gone.
Something tells me everything will be just fine though.
PS- Know any must-stop-for flea markets between southern Alabama and St. Louis? Sure would be fun to stretch our legs in
I have to be honest…when I first found out I was having a little dude I got all scared! My pre-Gunner self was never very impressed with little boy clothes. In my mind I always thought boy clothes were Winnie the Pooh overalls and helicopter shirts. I never had to venture into the boys department so little did I know that little guy clothes were as cute as they were! I’ve made a comple
It’s been a shuffle-y couple of months around here, but now that the wall paint is dry, we’ve started putting things back into place.
There’s still a fireplace to paint (Simply White), and tile to (temporarily) cover up…
…but things are definitely starting to feel more like us around here.
I’ve had the shelf above (and below) for so long…but I never cou
We showed you here how wecolor washed our barn door, but I didn’t quite show you the rest of the story. So, I wanted to show that to you today. We improved the bottom stair tread and wanted to add house numbers to it, below the barn door.
Now, this door comes off the stairs to the basement. While thestairsare carpeted, our living room floors are wood (wellactuallythey only look like wood).
Our house is filled with books but for the last 10 years we’ve been reading about princesses, ponies and fairies! With a little dude now in tow it’s time to start getting my feet wet in the super hero, din0saur and truck department! I’ve been loving all the new finds and recommendations I’ve been getting and just had to pass on my growing list of wants and haves for my lit
I make no secret of the fact that most days I’d rather be standing on a 210 plank over twenty feet of open stairwell, sanding drywall dust off the ceiling directly into right eyeball than doing laundry.
Which is weird, right? Because a.) drywall dust to the eyeball sucks, and b.) laundry isn’t really that hard. And since the farm consists of, uh, me (and a dozen animals that don’

As you can imagine I’ve been looking for inspiration as I turn a little girl room into a boy room! So far we have a crib being painted orange and that’s about it! Thank heavens for amazing people like you who have provided an endless supply of inspiration. I am loving these submitted posts from my readers on spaces they’ve created for the little guys in their lives…

It’s been a hard week around the farm. Quite a few of my “critical” projects– the donkey fence, cleaning out the barn, building a chicken run, mowing the back field– are at a tipping point, and just as I lowered my head to plow through these first few weeks of spring, something stopped me dead in my tracks.
My grandpa had a stroke.
My grandpa is by far the strongest m
